Plasma Mole Removal (North Wales)
About our clinician

Carl has worked with medical lasers since 2010. He has been fully trained to a very high level in the use of medical lasers to remove pigments, rejuvenate collagen, and treat fungal nail infections.
He became a member of the British Medical Laser Association in 2011, but was forced to retire from using medical lasers due to health problems in 2021 which meant that he could no longer carry the heavy equipment.
His skillset is eminently suited to offering plasma treatment - he is calm, pleasant and extremely knowledgable. Carl is fully trained in aseptic techniques to avoid cross contamination, upholds the highest levels of cleanliness and customer service, and provides a full aftercare service in the very unlikely event of any post treatment problems.

Plasma mole removal
Mole removal was a service originally provided as a minor surgery within GP practices but this service is no longer provided. The method used was rather unpleasant and involved injecting anaesthetic, cutting out the mole, cauterising the wound, and stitching the skin together. The risks from infection were high and the healing time could be as much as 8-12 weeks, leaving a noticable scar.
Mole removal using a plasma device is much easier. There is no need for anaesthetic injections, there is no cutting or stitching, no bleeding, and very little scarring. The healing process takes days instead of months and the likelihood of developing infections is extremely low. Many people have different reasons for wanting a mole removed:
Preventative
Moles can become cancerous, and turn into melanomas in sunshine.
Confidence
Some moles can be ugly and affect confidence, especially if they are prominent.
Comfort
Many moles can be caught on clothing and become sore, or bleed.
Whatever your reason for wanting a mole removing, plasma mole removal is by far the easiest and most effective method. Call us today to discuss your options with no obligation.
Plasma Treatment

What is plasma treatment?
Plasma is often called the 4th state of matter, along with solid, liquid and gas. Just as a liquid will boil, changing to a gas when energy is applied, adding energy to a gas will form a plasma - a soup of positively charged particles (ions) and negatively charged particles (electrons).
Our plasma device works by converting electrical energy into electrostatic energy which is transmitted to the probe in a steady stream. At about 2mm from the skin, oxygen and nitrogen are mixed to produce an arc of plasma which sublimates the skin tissue.
The highly accurate and controlled sublimation of moles transforms them into carbon crusts ( which fall off after a couple of weeks ). There is no pain. It may be a bit 'stingy' or a little hot initially, but it's very easy to cope with and any subsequent very mild discomfort settles in a couple of minutes.
It is, of course, important to use a properly trained clinician. In the right hands plasma treatment can change your life within minutes.

Is it suitable for me ?
Plasma treatment can be safely carried out on all skin types and all skin colours. It is not painful, there is no bleeding, no open wound, no need for aftercare treatments, doesn't require dressings and it is quick and very easy. It is suitable for everyone.
In order to check if your mole is safe to remove we use a common system for early detection of melanomas called the ABCDE system. Any suspicious moles will not be treated and you will be advised to check with your GP before continuing with treatment.
A is for asymmetry - The mole should be symmetrical. one half should match the other.
B is for border - The border should be even with no scalloped or notched edges.
C is for colour - The mole should be an even colour. No multiple shades of brown, black, grey, blue, or red.
D is for diameter - The mole should be less than 6mm.
E is for evolving - There should be no recent changes in the months prior to treatment.

Is plasma treatment just for moles ?
Plasma treatment can also be used to effectively remove freckles.
Plasma devices could also be used to remove warts, skin tags and other skin lesions but there are more effective treatments available to remove these, so we don't offer that service.
Treatment cost
£25 for the first mole.
£5 each for extra moles in the same visit.
(Please note: We can only remove up to 3 moles in the same visit.)
Payment is by contactless or card payment through Sumup Payment Services.

What to expect
In order to be as environmentally friendly as possible our office is a 'paperless office'. We do all our 'paperwork' electronically.
We will take some details and fill out a patient information form and a consent form, a copy of which will be sent to your email address.
Plasma treatment is not painful. There can be a stinging or hot sensation but that sensation is certainly no worse than having a tattoo.
Most moles can be removed within a couple of minutes. There may be a small amount of discomfort afterwards, but it only lasts for a short while and there is no ongoing soreness.

Afterwards
The treatment will leave a fairly solid disc of carbon, very much like a scab. As long as this scab is left undisturbed there is absolutely nothing you need to do in the way of aftercare.
After a few days the carbon scab will fall off and you will see fresh clear skin underneath. It is possible to have a small scar but that will settle over time. The area where the mole was will not tan in sunshine, so you may notice a small white spot when the area is tanned.
